Lionesses forward Michelle Agyemang, darts player Luke Littler and cricket star Davina Perrin have been shortlisted for the upcoming Young Sports Star of the Year award.

These three athletes have been honoured for their outstanding achievements over the previous year.

Agyemang played a key role in helping the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler won the world title for the very first time, and Perrin burst onto the scene with a historic innings.

Littler claimed this honour in 2024 after his breakthrough year.

The three contenders were announced live on a national radio breakfast show.

The 2025 recipient will be revealed live on the annual sports awards show on Thursday, 18 December.

The event will be broadcast from seven in the evening GMT.

The Football Star

Age: 19 Sport: Football

Just three months after her first cap for her country, Agyemang played a dramatic and decisive role in England's run to European Championship victory.

She came off the bench to score vital last-gasp goals in both the last eight and last four matches.

These match-saving moments led to her being named the tournament's top young talent.

Afterwards, she was awarded the Golden Girl award for the top young European talent.

She was also in contention for the Kopa Trophy for the planet's top young female footballer.

Agyemang, who has been playing for Brighton on loan from Arsenal, sustained a serious knee injury in October.

"Being on the shortlist for this honour is an honour," said Agyemang. "I thank God and I'm thankful for the support I've received from my inner circle and supporters."

The Darts Prodigy

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

The year started for Littler in sensational style as - aged 17 - he became the most youthful world title winner in history.

He secured a commanding win over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His later win at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth competitor to complete the prestigious three major tournament wins.

His success continued - his victory at November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he reached world number one for the maiden occasion.

At 18, he is the youngest man to do so, shattering the previous record.

"To receive a nomination for this award again is a huge privilege," stated Littler. "Winning last year was a highlight for me and I've had another amazing 12 months. I want to continue raising the profile of darts."

Davina Perrin

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's brightest emerging stars and rose to fame with an extraordinary and record-breaking innings in August.

Her sublime 42-ball century in The Hundred is the fastest by an English woman in T20s.

It also stands as the equal third-quickest women's T20 century in a premier tournament.

Perrin finished second in the batting rankings and was named the Professional Cricketers' Association's top young women's player.

"I'm incredibly grateful to be shortlisted for the young athlete award," expressed Perrin. "It means a great deal. I hope it inspires more young females to get into cricket."
