The Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Matchup Against defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer contributed to the Houston Astros winning the championship in 2017.

Toronto's Blue Jays reached their initial championship series after 1993 by beating the Mariners in the final game seven of the ALCS.

Trailing by two runs, the star outfielder smashed a three-run homer in the seventh inning, guiding the Toronto squad in Major League Baseball to a four games to three win in the series. Next up are the defending champions, the team that is the defending champions, in the anticipated championship.

"I'm just so happy for everyone here, the city, the nation," commented Springer, a star of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "It's truly an amazing experience."

The veteran has now hit 23 total post-season home runs, ranking him third in history after Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).

"I can't think of anyone else on planet Earth that I'd choose in that situation besides Springer with his playoff prowess," remarked Schneider.

Seattle, who had led the series 2-0 and 3-2, are still the only MLB franchise never to appear in a Fall Classic.

Manager Dan Wilson stated "certainly that it's painful" after his club's elimination at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but commended their efforts in the campaign.

"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we ended up on the losing end of this one," he added.

Toronto won the World Series on their two prior appearances in 1992 and 1993, and will welcome the Los Angeles in game one on Friday.
