It's a challenge for Australia to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

We're talking about the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the peak baggers, are what's still available for a side that has achieved everything.

That it took as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's challenging for their batsmen to hold a record if not afforded the chance.

Finally, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy receiving a platform to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has witnessed all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her bow and seven global championships have come from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India momentarily interrupted the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not come up short.

If this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the case for the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was far harder to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this knock followed six innings in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in training, it was a challenging time because it appeared I lacked timing completely," said Healy.

"But once you take the field, your competitive instincts activate and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and after that the right-hander was in motion.

"A chance to play and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

When she was out the team needed 66 more at run per delivery - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the belief to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, if necessary, we believe we can achieve it."

These statements will be the last competing nations at this championship want to hear.

In recent days a belief they will win from any position has become more firm - this victory succeeding success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing through the pain.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have postponed plans to retire, this championship is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as captain.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her final mountain.
