Iran Claims Strike on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is not yet known and the United States has remained silent.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on areas linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the government.
Additional Developments
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with notable success and destroyed a number of missiles," it added.
The statement noted debris landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
