Ex- Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Against 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have announced that a former doctor stands accused of committing sexual assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.
Details of the Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations come after what investigators called a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents outline the forty-five charges include:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
